Night Poems features an enchanting evening of music inspired by the various shades and hues of the night as it unfolds and deepens. Central to the program is KMFA's Draylen Mason Composer-in-Residence Sophie Mathieu's evocative new composition, Night Poem, which masterfully utilizes the textures and timbres of the string orchestra to delve into the profound mysteries of the nocturnal world.
Complementary pieces, tonally aligned, enhance the journey through the night’s diverse realms, highlighting Austin Unconducted’s versatility—from the intimate to the expansive. Join us for this captivating exploration of the night’s endless possibilities through the expressive power of music.
Austin Unconducted is a democratically run orchestra formed in 2022 by a group of young musicians with a desire to create and present classical music in a way that is relatable, fresh, and fun. We collaborate closely with local artists to design and perform concerts that reflect the voice and energy of the city of Austin. 2024-2025 will mark our third full season of concerts that double as community building experiences, inviting Austinites to gather and immerse themselves in music from throughout history in a friendly and intimate environment. Unconfined by tradition, unafraid to feature unheard voices, & unapologetically Austin, we are keeping music current.
Austin Unconducted is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that builds community by creating inclusive, immersive, and relevant concert experiences that engage diverse audiences. As a cooperative orchestra, we re-examine the long arc of musical tradition through a contemporary lens with performances that promote equity and generate new excitement for art music in our ever changing city.
